Not All Synthetics Are Created Equal!
Semi, Fully, Blended, 100% and True Synthetics
What Are The Differences
.
Nearly every major oil company has added a synthetic product to their line. Including factory fills for Mercedes, BMW, Corvette, VW and Audi. This is a testament to the value of synthetic Motor Oil and other synthetic lubricants. But, beware, many of these "synthetics" contain very few, if any PAO's (Polyalphaolephins - true PAO's cost about $50 per litre). First of all most Semi, Fully, Blended and 100% synthetics use a recycled motor oil base, are hydroisomerized petroleum base, or are Ester based synthetic blends. They are allowed to call themselves 100% due to the definition set out by the petroleum industry. These oils do not act like or contain the characteristics of a true synthetic oil. Because they contain crude oil carriers, the oil's lighter ingredients and molecular structure boil off; making the oil thicker and it starts to break down under 10,000 km. Second, many of the complex molecular structures found naturally in petroleum base stocks begin to react under extreme heat, which forms sludge, gum and varnish. PAO's do not have this problem. Make sure the synthetic you use contains a pure PAO bright stock base with no esters. Motrlube is one of only a couple of motor oils made with pure PAO bright stock. Unlike even those that use a pure PAO bright stock, Motrlube's special blend of additives enables Motrlube to be the only motor oil with all the characteristics of a true PAO. You get a true PAO at 1/4 the price
