What is a PAO and Why Do Most Synthetics Not Contain A Significant Amount?

Polyalphaolephins (PAO's) are extremely slippery man-made Polymer chemicals with molecular strength and lubrication characteristics unsurpassed by any other lubricating fluid.

Formulated with appropriate additives, Polymer lubricants have been used for years in such severe applications as Aircraft Jet Engines, where changes between rebuilds are almost unknown.

Polymer lubricants are also used in industries where machinery shutdown or production interruption for the purpose of oil changes would be extremely costly.

High grade true polymer lubricants that have been in use for these purposes are very expensive, as much as $50 per litre, and therefore have not been cost effective for everyday transportation use.

This high cost is why most Synthetic Oils that claim they use PAO's only use a very small amount of P.A.O’s as a marketing tool and use less expensive Esters, additives, petroleum oil carriers or a blend of these for the balance of their product.

Motrlube, however, with its significant advanced technology, uses a pure PAO base stock and an additive blend that displays the same characteristics of a true PAO, at 1/4 of the cost.

A totally PAO based class of lubricant within reach of all consumers.
